Our Philosophy
Vegan is not just a trend, we feel like it can easily and should be integrated into the Austrian culinary tradition in an outstanding way. We want to contribute to the future in a responsible and innovative way, without disregarding our roots.
Liver dumpling soup and roast on Sunday? We´d like to show you how this pleasure is also possible in a modern way. In order to live up to our high standards of taste and quality, we also like to work with new, innovative food producers and integrate their products into our dishes.
Sustainability is an important factor for us. We source the majority of our products from regional partners. In addition, we offer environmentally friendly reusable tableware for take-away orders.
Our journey has only just begun. Establishing traditional Viennese cuisine in vegan quality in the world is our ambitious goal.
Our cuisine
...is probably best described as a mix of Austrian home cooking, Viennese delicacies and a touch of international flair. We use high-quality ingredients to conjure up traditional dishes such as Kaspressknödelsuppe or Grießnockerlsuppe, Wiener Schnitzel, Kaiserschmarrn and Nougatknödel. We also integrate seasonal and international dishes into our alternating special menu. Our self-developed dishes are carefully prepared by skilled hands.
The Restaurant
Our restaurant is located not far from Schönbrunn, next to the Längenfeldgasse U6 underground station and is very well connected to public transport. With its large and open rooms and pavement café, it invites you to relax, enjoy a meal or even dine romantically.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Good homestyle cuisine in vegan, high-quality - that's what Hartmuth Beck and his daughter Tamara were missing at the time.
What began as an ambitious idea at the end of 2019 became reality in 2020 as a father/daughter project.
A purely vegan restaurant with an emphasis on traditional
Austrian cuisine and Viennese delicacies at a high level.
The ~Velani~ was born.
